DOG TO BE EUTH'D SOON IF NOT RESCUED

There's a male Pit Bull (I'm thinking approx. 2 y/o) at the Bedford County Animal Control (Shelbyville, TN) who was scheduled to be put down Monday...I called and begged/pleaded that they give him more time because I thought that I knew someone who would be able to help him...well, this person hasn't contacted me back and he's still there, or he was still there as of last night awaiting whatever fate had in store. Is there anyone who can help him? Animal control will only hand him over to a licensed rescue. They don't adopt out pit bulls to the public because they do not have a good screening process for potential adopters (which is as good a reason as any not to, if you ask me...), but still...he's a sweet dog and the people at the Shelbyville-Bedford Humane Association do not want to see him put down. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE...If anyone can  help, please do. He's a sweet baby.

None so far...he was alive as of yesterday. They behavior tested him and apparently he did very well...I've posted a bulletin on another site and Jodi Preis with Bless the Bullys is supposed to be checking with some people to see if anyone has room for him. I just wish I could take him. He and Harley would be so good together. 

I'll let you know if I hear anything else.

Here's an update...the lady from the Humane Association emailed me today and told me that he is still there and still alive. The woman who surrendered him called back and gave them the story of how she came by him and it was different from what I was told before... Apparently the dog belonged to her son who left him with her for about a week. The lady was scared of the dog due to the fact that he was a pit bull and decided to turn him over despite the fact that he had never been anything other than friendly to her....HE WASN'T/ISN'T AGGRESSIVE AT ALL. How ignorant can people be? Turning over a sweet dog just because he's a pit bull.... I am constantly amazed at how stupid people are. I just don't get it.

I'm hoping now that the son comes back to claim the dog. If the dog is that sweet and is obviously fairly well socialized then the guy had to be taking fairly good care of him...right?

'nother update...
Our bully boy is still alive. Apparently the people up at Animal Control have taken a liking to him since he is such a sweet boy. Also, the lady I have been in contact with told me that they might let a carefully screened individual take him. She keeps hinting at this to me, bless her heart, but I really cannot take him right now. I wish I could. I'd go get him in a heartbeat if I had a place for him...and the money for him, for that matter.

If anyone is interested in him, please let me know. I'll put you in contact with Ms. Kimberly. He's located in Shelbyville, TN. You'll need to have a few references and what not. I'm sure you know the drill.

Well, I have been scared to ask because I've been scared of the answer but....
I emailed Kimberly this morning to ask her a question and she gave me an update on the white dog. Because she couldn't stand to see him put down she said she bought a 10'x10' pen and put him in her backyard. She says he's a wonderful dog, super sweet and would make someone a great pet, but that she can't keep him because he needs more than a little 10x10 pen to run in.

So, he's still available if anyone is interested. If she can hang onto him for a couple more months I may see if I can talk my fiance into letting me have him since we're going to have to get another buddy for Harley anyway.

Update
We may be adopting this dog. The lady still has him (he's that great!!), but my husband isn't sure about another pit (not sure why...ours is an angel)...I'm working on him, though. I think we're going to "borrow him" (as Joseph put it) for a couple days to see how he does with Harley Quinn- I'm sure they'll be great!! Harley loves everyone and if everything I hear about this guy is true, I'm sure he'll be great as well. Just thought I'd share. I'm excited.
