A local case of animal cruelty is gaining national attention after two pit bull puppies were burned in East Bakersfield. One of the dogs has a facebook page, which shows both puppies recovering from horrific burns.

The Animal Control department doesn't have any leads but a $5,000 reward is being offered for information.

After almost six years of costly enforcement of breed specific legislation, (BSL) Italy has lifted its breed ban and is replacing it with a law that will hold owners accountable for their dogs. Called BSL for short, Breed Specific Legislation is a lot like it sounds. BSL restricts what types of pets owners can have based on breed, rather than disposition, training and the pet’s history. It has come under fire in many communities in which entire breeds (and breed mixed dogs) suddenly became illegal. (i.e. American Staffordshire Terriers, Rottweilers, “Pit Bulls,” etc.)
